What began as a simple request to select paint colours developed into a complete interior response. Spatial planning, cabinetry, finishes, furniture, artwork and styling were considered together, allowing each room to have its own personality while remaining part of a cohesive whole.

The surrounding landscape provided a natural starting point for the palette. The silver bark of rain-soaked gums, dry riverbeds, deep olive greens and earthy tones of the bushland are reflected throughout the home. Rammed earth walls ground the architecture, while marble, timber, glass and textiles introduce variation in colour and texture.

Jessica’s appreciation for textiles and collected interiors is evident throughout. Vintage furniture sourced from deceased estates and online marketplaces sits alongside contemporary pieces, while pattern and softer materials offset the clean architectural lines. Hale Mercantile linen forms part of this layering, introducing natural texture and softness throughout the home.

Rather than creating a home that feels newly decorated, Jessica has brought together materials and objects with different characters and histories. The result reflects an approach that values longevity over novelty, giving Filly House a sense of personality that feels established from the outset.

What began with paint colours ultimately became a home shaped by its landscape, its materials and the life intended to unfold within it.
