Hale Mercantile on location captures our linen in situ within a contemporary brutalist home. Located on the wind-swept Mornington Peninsula, south of Melbourne, Victoria, the residence pairs off-form concrete, stone, patinated brass and steel with warm timber cladding. Expansive glazing draws natural light deep into the interior while framing the wild coastal landscape.
Within this architectural setting, Hale Mercantile introduces softness and ease. Our pure linen is made in Europe using timeworn processes that create a naturally textural surface and fluid drape. The material sits comfortably against the home’s robust finishes. Across the bedrooms, living spaces, kitchen and bathroom, our pieces introduce soft forms and soothing comfort. Styling is intentionally restrained so the character of the linen remains the focus. The only adornment is our signature hand-tufted Flocca edging, a subtle detail that emphasises softness and quiet refinement.
Hale Mercantile linen is yarn-dyed to ensure depth and permanency of colour. From a palette of 23 hues, khaki-green Armee, charcoal-grey Tempest and mulberry-red Moro were selected as grounding contrast tones. These are complemented by caramel Carmel, tawny Cep and soft-blue Fog. The palette introduces depth and tonal variation without competing with the architecture. The effect is distinctive yet enduring.
Captured in this setting, a Flocca flat sheet or duvet cover forms the foundation of the bed. Two Flocca pillowcases complete the arrangement. Additional layers are introduced with purpose. A Flocca blanket adds undulating texture. The Basix coverlet introduces gentle structure and weight.
The sentiment is simple. Hale Mercantile linen holds its own within a considered interior. The application need not be complex. Each piece introduces softness, depth of colour and a sense of ease. In a home defined by strong materiality and form, restraint proves enduring.
